故事簡介

原是百老匯舞台劇，搬上銀幕即成為賣座電影，更贏得首屆奧斯卡最佳導演、最佳改編劇本、最佳女主角。故事背景在巴黎，少女戴安被惡姊所欺，又遭巡警逮捕，幸獲志高挺身相救，冒認夫婿。志高怕巡警登門查證，唯有讓戴安暫住他的「七重天」──七層頂樓小公寓。他是下水道清潔工人，但信心比天高，亦令戴安重拾自信，然而大戰爆發，有情人被迫天各一方……默片時代城市愛情經典，借用表現主義電影的空間美學，登上七層樓梯的長鏡頭更是別具匠心。

Synopsis

Seventh Heaven is an American classic set in France. It’s the story of Diane and Chico, the former the proverbial prostitute-with-a-heart-of-gold, the latter a laborer who works underground in the sewers but lives on top of the world at the crest of a seven-story building. The film masterfully weds humanistic concerns with stylized images, featuring an expressionistic animation of space that projects the early 20th Century fascination with cityscape. Based on a popular Broadway play, Seventh Heaven is considered one of the best silent films ever, earning five nominations at the first Academy Awards ceremony and winning the prizes for Best Director (Frank Borzage), Best Actress (Janet Gaynor) and Best Writing (Benjamin Glazer).
